Local 2879 is a fair, reasonable, and professional organization.

It is our mission to
Always Give More Than We Take!
We strive everyday to make our community a better, safer place to live!
Our UNION particpates in countless fundraisers, charity events, and often makes donations to those that need it most.

The funds for these actions comes from money collected from our
members paychecks for dues. This money for doantions and charities comes from the pockets of our members. Our members give their free time on days off to attend many of these community events!

When you hear the term Union
we hope you think of two things:
1 - Local 2879, The Ocean City-Wright Professional Firefighters Association
2 - We support the local 2879, because they support us!

Our UNION does much more than just respond
when you dial 911. We respond to the needs of our
community everyday. In every way we can!

Supporting Those in Need - Local 2879
Local 2879 has donated monies to familes and individuals after a tragic loss, medical emergency, or just suffering through difficult times. Our organization supports the members of our community. We are here to help.

2nd Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser - Local 2879
Local 2879 Members organize and participate in a fundraiser designed to raise money
to help in the fight against Breast Cancer. 100% of the profits will be donated
to the American Cancer Society and will go directly towards Breast Cancer Research and Patient Advocacy!

Boot Drive Raises Money For Muscular Dystrophy - Local 2879
Local 2879 members collected money at Wal-Mart to help raise money to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Local 2879 members support this charity fundraiser every year!

Firefighters Help Boy Achieve Firefighter Dream - Local 2879
Logan, our friend, was made an honorary firefighter. He visits us at
the station on a regular basis. We support Logan and his family every way we can!

Dodge CF - FWB Charity Event - Local 2879
Local 2879 members help sponsor, and participate in the Charity Dodgeball Tournament for Cystic Fibrosis. Our members played in the tournament and operated a table with fire safety information,
and performed blood pressure checks

UNION members help deliver Santa to local Neighborhoods - Local 2879
Off duty Local 2879 Union Members drive a fire truck through local neighborhoods for Christmas. With Santa riding comfortably up top on the hose bed local children were thrilled to see Jolly Ol' Saint Nick riding with the firefighters

Shop With a Firefighter - Local 2879
Local 2879 members participate with other locals to take kids shopping at Christmas time. Our members attended this event and with other locals used Union funds to help provide a better Christmas to several local families in need.

Shalimar Baptist Church Halloween Party - Local 2879
OCW firefighters attend the Shalimar Baptist Church Halloween party.  Firefighters gave ladder rides in Tower 1 to families at the party.  Firefighters were also judges for a chili cook off that took place at the party.  This was a lot of fun and we look forward to next years party.

Firefighters Wear Pink to Support Breast Cancer Awareness - Local 2879
Local 2879 Members organized a fundraiser designed to raise money
to help in the fight against Breas Cancer. We donated $1000.00 to the American Cancer Society.

 Charity Truck Pull - Local 2879
Local 2879 members participate in a charity "truck-pull" competition at the local YMCA.

Charity Bocce Tournament for - Local 2879
Local 2879 members participate in a local Charity Bocce Ball tournament
